Wine Tasting Supper Events Working in conjunction with our Wine Merchant, 'Charles Steevenson Wines', Browns Hotel is delighted to be hosting a series of ‘Tutored Wine Tasting’ supper events Our aim is to meet on the third Thursday of the month. With his extensive knowledge and vast experience, Charles will take us through the fundamental and intriguing aspects of the 'World of Wine', and hopefully de-mystify the complexities of wines, which can so often confuse. For the first meeting, Charles will briefly explain 'Wine production, modern wine trends, and the intricacies of Food-Wine Pairing'. Prior to tasting, Charles will explain the rudiments of 'Wine Tasting' and how to get the most out of your wine. Rest assured, at each of the evenings, great emphasis will be placed on actually sampling and scrutinising wines and comparing the grapes from different regions and regional variations. During the evening Jaemus Dowing, the renowned local composer and musician will be performing a live selection of music. Jaemus, the Plymouth born pianist has performed widely in a variety of diverse styles; from solo Classical and Modern Jazz, to Ragtime and Traditional Jazz with the City Steam Jazz Band, Blues with Jeff Fuller and the Backdoor Men, as well as specialising in music from the Great American Song Book. He now principally earns his living playing Swing Jazz and Blues. Jaemus is perhaps best known for his bestselling CD – Piano Jazz, Rags, Ballads, and Blues. Once the informative and informal pre supper tasting is concluded, the Maitre d’ will invite you to Supper, where you will be served the culinary delights Browns Hotel is renowned for, enjoying a sumptuous Chef’s seasonal four course set dinner menu comprising of –appetiser, starter, main and dessert. The meal will be accompanied by flights of wine which have been selected to compliment the cuisine. We do hope you can join us for our next event on Thursday 17th March at 7pm to 10:30pm and every third Thursday thereafter each month. It is important to book in advance and so that we know of numbers for catering and wine quantities. Please advise if a vegetarian option is requested or any dietary requirements in advance. |
